MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN
Rooted in our mission to advance social and
economic progress locally and globally, the
strategic plan outlines how we will rise to
this occasion. It re昀氀ects our values of student
success, innovation, social impact, excellence,
and collaborative leadership, and it charts a
course that embraces complexity with purpose.
From embedding digital 昀氀uency in the classroom
to strengthening community ties across Atlanta
and beyond, we are positioning our students and
scholars to lead in an interconnected, rapidly
evolving world.
It is my great honor to introduce Leading with
Purpose: The Strategic Plan for the Andrew Young
School of Policy Studies, 2025-2033. This plan
emerges at a transformative moment, one
that demands not only re昀氀ection, but bold and
decisive action. It is a roadmap for how we will
lead, serve, and innovate in a digital century that
is reshaping every corner of public life.
We are facing a profound in昀氀ection point. The
disruptions of technological change, the evolving
needs of the workforce, the imperative to
strengthen communities, and the challenge of
sustaining public trust all converge to form a
call to action we cannot ignore. Our world and
our students need institutions that are agile and
unafraid to reimagine the future of public policy
education. This plan is our collective response.
The imperatives of the digital century call for a
new kind of leadership—technologically savvy,
ethically grounded, and deeply engaged with
the communities we serve. That is exactly
what this plan is designed to cultivate. It aligns
our curriculum, research, and community
partnerships to tackle challenges that matter:
arti昀椀cial intelligence and data governance,
health and well-being, economic prosperity,
and resilience in the face of change.
THIS IS MORE THAN A STRATEGIC PLAN:
IT IS A SHARED VISION FOR WHAT
PUBLIC SERVICE CAN AND SHOULD BE.
It invites us to think differently, work
collaboratively, and stay grounded in our
commitment to innovation and impact. As we
confront the challenges of our time, we do so
with optimism, courage, and clarity of purpose.
I am proud to be on this journey with you.
